Palm Sunday
This advanced piano hymn arrangement is the perfect way to open your Palm Sunday church service and thus set the tone for Holy Week! The full chords in the introduction depict the majesty of our King Jesus entering Jerusalem (albeit humbly on a donkey). You will then hear the main tune in full chords, echoing the strong texture of the introduction. Later on, the main tune is played in a high register and is accompanied by gentle triplet subdivisions. Suitable for church prelude, offertory, or postlude on Palm Sunday during Holy Week. This advanced piano hymn arrangement reflects the dual dynamic of Palm Sunday – it oscillates between the majesty of Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem (the major sections) and foreshadows his crucifixion (the minor sections). The right hand plays the melody along with some harmony notes underneath while the left hand plays 1-5-1 patterns in eighth notes for the most part. Sometimes you will also hear strong block chords, which offer some textural variety to this arrangement. This tune also goes under another text in our hymnals – “I Sing the Mighty Power of God,” This means you can play it any Sunday during the year, not just on Palm Sunday :) Simply change the title in the bulletin and you’re good to go! This is a late-intermediate, early-advanced piano solo arrangement of the choral motet “Ave Verum Corpus” composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1791. In writing this arrangement, I kept the essence of the original composition by maintaining Mozart’s melody and harmonic structure. At the same time, I explored various layers of the piano register – half way through you will hear the melody move to the left hand in the middle register while the right hand plays an arpeggiated texture. This piano arrangement is written in a gentle style, making it the perfect choice for communion services, Holy Week (particularly on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday), or any other time when we remember Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross. Suitable for a church prelude, offertory or postlude. CHECK OUT the sheet music previews to determine if this arrangement is the right fit for you! LISTEN to the full recording below!

GOOD FRIDAY
Here’s a perfect choice for your upcoming Good Friday church service – an advanced piano solo medley arrangement featuring the old hymn “Ah, Holy Jesus, How Hast Thou Offended” by Johann Crüger and “Behold the Lamb of God” from Händel’s Messiah oratorio. In addition to the familiar Baroque sound – characteristic of both Crüger and Händel – you will also hear modern harmonies such as unresolved suspensions, major seventh chords, or parallel fifths and octaves. A twenty-first century homage to some of the greatest music ever written, this arrangement will bring your congregation to tears as they meditate on the work of our savior on the cross. Suitable for church prelude, offertory, postlude on Good Friday or any other service when we commemorate Jesus’s work on the cross (e.g. communion). This hymn arrangement would pair well with sermons on the topic of Jesus's suffering, undeserving love, atonement, or the cross. This advanced piano arrangement of the church hymn “Jesus Paid It All” will keep your listeners on the edge of their seats for the entire duration of your performance! The right hand begins with a gentle ostinato based on open fourths and fifths. Soon after, the left hand plays a very low tonic note then it will move to the middle register to play the main tune. You need to hold the pedal down as marked in the music, without refreshing it, in order to achieve the desired effect as heard on the recording. There will be segments in this arrangement where you are welcome to pedal however you see fit, but don’t worry, it’s all clearly marked in the score! This advanced piano arrangement of "Jesus Paid It All" is suitable for church prelude, offertory or postlude all year round, and pairs particularly well with sermons on the topic of atonement, grace, redemption, or forgiveness. Here's a piano arrangement of George Bennard's gospel hymn "The Old Rugged Cross" (aka "On a Hill Far Away"). It is written in a gospel style with a gentle swing beat. This piano arrangement is suitable for prelude, offertory or postlude on Good Friday during Holy Week or any other service throughout the year when we commemorate the sacrifice of our Lord on the cross (such as communion Sunday). This advanced piano hymn arrangement depicts the mournful event that took place at the cross. The close dissonant harmonies symbolize our sins as they are transferred over into Christ’s suffering body. You can take your time on this hymn – take it even slower than the indicated metronome marking. Allow your congregation to truly enter into the crucifixion story. Suitable for church prelude, offertory, or postlude on Good Friday during Holy Week, or communion Sundays throughout the year. Also pairs well with sermons on the topic of Jesus's suffering, atonement, redemption, and salvation. How Deep the Father’s Love for Us
Here’s a piano arrangement of the old church hymn “Tell Me the Story of Jesus” designed for late-intermediate / early-advanced pianists. In this arrangement I changed the meter from the original 4/4 found in our hymnals to 6/8 in order to give it a more flowy character. This new meter is emphasized by the left hand eighth notes and the occasional right hand runs in between phrases. On the last verse, this arrangement will switch to the original 4/4 meter that we have in our hymnals. It is suitable for church prelude, offertory or postlude all year long, and pairs particularly well with sermons on the topic of the incarnation, redemption, gospel, or devotion. The hymn chorale “O, Sacred Head Now Wounded” (O Haupt Voll Blut und Wunden) was made popular by Johann Sebastian Bach. He featured it several times in his choral-orchestral work “St Matthew’s Passion.” In this piano solo arrangement I stayed very close to the harmonization we have in our hymnals, while still telling the story of the crucifixion – the first verse is played in the medium register (the way you’d normally accompany your congregation) then the second verse takes you in the lower register, at a slower tempo, and with minimal harmonization. As you get towards the end of this arrangement you can imagine Christ giving away his last breath on the cross. Suitable for church preludes, offertories or postludes, on Good Friday during Holy Week or any other service of the year when we commemorate the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus, such as communion services! It would also pair well with sermons on the topic of atonement, suffering, devotion, or humility. CHECK OUT the score preview to determine if this arrangement is the right fit for you! EASTER SUNDAY
Because He Lives
Inspired by Händel’s famous tune from his oratorio Judas Maccabaeus, “Thine Is the Glory” has become a favorite Easter hymn for Christian believers. This advanced piano arrangement echoes “händelian” compositional techniques such as parallel thirds in the right hand for the introduction and interludes. During the main sections the right hand plays melody and chords while the left hand plays open octaves, not only to provide harmonic support, but also to connect phrases via moving bass line lotes. It is a perfect choice for church prelude, offertory or postlude for Easter Sunday to conclude Holy Week! CHECK OUT the score preview to determine if this piano arrangement is the right fit for you! A beautiful, advanced piano arrangement of the church hymn "And Can It Be" that will lift the hearts of your congregation! This version starts out with solemn blocked chords, echoing the old fashioned sound of church organs. Then, on the second verse, the meter changes from 4/4 to 12/8, giving the music a more flowy rhythm. The texture also changes – now the left hand carries the melody in the middle register while the right hand provides a gentle ostinato in the high register. Suitable for church prelude, offertory, postlude. This hymn arrangement would pair well with sermons on the topic of transformation, sanctification, redemption, and triumphant resurrection. This advanced piano medley arrangement opens with John Hatton’s hymn tune “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” which is later followed by Beethoven’s famous “Ode to Joy” theme from his ninth symphony (or “Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee” as it is found in many hymnals). The blocked chords sprinkled throughout this arrangement create a celebratory atmosphere to reflect the powerful text. At the same time, there are some gentle musical moments to provide musical contrast between sections.
