This advanced piano arrangement of the church hymn “For the Beauty of the Earth” is divided into three main sections. At first, the texture is very traditional, almost identical to the hymnal, plus the occasional suspension to spice up the harmony. Then, in the second section of this arrangement, the meter changes from 4/4 to 12/8, the right plays an ostinato in the high register while the left hand plays the melody and harmony in the middle register. Finally, on the last verse, the two hands provide a full texture via octaves and blocked chords. Towards the end, this arrangement will echo the ostinato heard previously. This advanced piano hymn arrangement is the perfect prelude, offertory or postlude for your upcoming church service. It begins with the right hand playing a melody built on single notes, as if it were a calling from a distance. Half way through the first verse, the left hand enters in beautiful counterpoint. Then we hear full harmonies in the first chorus, which will continue throughout the rest of the arrangement. This advanced piano version of "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" begins in the key of E flat major and towards the last verse it will modulate to the key of D major (yes, I modulated DOWN instead of UP haha; sneaky!). The well-known Welsh folk song “Ash Grove” has been sung on many texts over the past centuries. In most of our church hymnals this tune is set to Katherine Davis’s text “Let All Things Now Living.” In this advanced piano arrangement I maintained the traditional Welsh melody but used new, fresh harmonies to support said melody. Your congregation will still recognize the tune, and the new chords will keep them on the edge of their seats! Later on, the right hand will also incorporate passing tones in its melodic contour. This advanced piano medley arrangement begins with the old German hymn LASS UNS ERFREUEN which has been set to several English texts in our hymnals such as “All Creatures of Our God and King” and "Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow." The second musical theme of this medley is Joseph Brackett’s “Simple Gifts” which is found in some hymnals under the title “Lord of the Dance.” The left hand accompaniment pattern provides a seamless transition between this medley’s sections via continuous broken chords and descending bass line. Here's a piano medley arrangement of Thanksgiving hymn “Sing to the Lord of Harvest” combined with themes from Antonio Vivaldi’s “Autumn” violin concerto from his four seasons series. Both selections – the hymn and the violin concerto – share common themes: the autumn season, a bountiful harvest, and a celebratory atmosphere. Furthermore, the hymn also gives thanks to the source of all our blessings, God.
This piano arrangement is inspired by baroque and classical textures. The first verse, in the key of F major, is vibrant and features themes from both sources. After a direct modulation to the key of B flat major, the second verse presents a more mellow atmosphere, with the melody being played in the middle register by the left hand while the right hand plays a flowing countermelody in the higher register. As the middle section comes to an end, the Vivaldi theme resumes in the key of G minor; it will then modulate to the triumphant-sounding D major for the final verse. The Steadfast Love of the Lord (with Great Is Thy Faithfulness)
Here's an advanced piano arrangement of church hymn “We Gather Together”, inspired by the classical style of late-eighteenth century composers such as Haydn and Mozart. It begins with an introduction where the right hand melody is derived from the main motif of the hymn while the left hand accompaniment is built on broken chords. Then the first verse continues in this fashion, with the right hand playing the main tune and the left hand carrying the same accompaniment pattern it played in the introduction. On the second verse the is a sudden change in mood with a transition from C major to A minor. Finally on the last verse we transition back to a major key, but this time we're in the key of B flat major. This is your perfect prelude, offertory or postlude for the Thanksgiving season or any other service when we remember that God is our good provider and protector.
