Angels We Have Heard On High
Join with the angels as we proclaim the birth of Jesus through music! This advanced piano arrangement will fill performers and listeners with Christmas joy. The introduction features a descending line built on parallel thirds which will soon segue into the familiar “Gloria” tune from the chorus. Then the first verse is a straight-forward presentation of this carol. By contrast, the second verse inculdes several surprises: the melody is now in the middle register, being carried by the left hand thumb, while the right hand plays a Christmassy-sounding ostinato in the higher register. Not only that, but the meter is now 12/8 instead of 4/4, and these new subdivisions will give the arrangement a lively pulse. Finally, the last verse resumes the standard 4/4 meter and is also played in a new key – G flat major! Have fun with all the flats :) This advanced piano arrangement is suitable for church services or any other performance types during Advent and Christmas.
